by michael on August 13, 2009

Listen up guys, if you own a Mcintosh cd head unit/transport/dac, you owe yourself to experience these high-end upgrades for them. The upgrades are applicable for models MX406, MX4000+MDA4000 and MX5000 + MDA5000 including their respective DC-DC power supply.

Incidentally if you do not own a Mcintosh head unit, you can always purchase one from us at very attractive prices.

If you think your exisiting unit is good enough, you’re in for a big surprise, as it can be miles better. We guarantee it!! Mcintosh gears are very well built and long lasting, therefore worth enhancing, investing and keeping for many years to come.

Yes, some of our upgrades may seem expensive such as those for very high end gears but once you see the quality of the parts we use, the extensive work involved and then hear the stunning end result you will understand why they cost what they do.

Once you have experienced a new benchmark in high-end reproduction, there is practically no turning back.  Head unit cd players/ Digital to Analogue Convertors /DC-DC power supply that enable the reproduction of exceptionally beautiful music in consumer’s cars where it was thought not possible to achieve. I wish to purchase the McIntosh MDA5000. Do you have this unit available?
What is the price for this item, and also the (approx) cost for shipping to the U.S.?

Please give price quotes in USD.

Thank you.

Hi,

I have an MX406. Regarding upgrades, I had the following questions:

1) How much money (US) to upgrade the head unit.
2) How much money (US) to upgrade the DC-DC power supply?
3) What improvement(s) will I hear, as a result of the upgrades. I understand it should be better, but I was looking for more descriptives of the result.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi,

I left a comment yesterday, but I noticed it is no longer there. I need to find out the following:

1) Cost (US) to upgrade MX406?
2) Cost (US) to upgrade DC-DC converter?
3) What improvements should I expect with these upgrades?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave (x2) Thanks for writing and here is your reply. For further discussion, please email us at victor@audio-creations.com or michael@audio-creations.com

1) USD1000 (high-end clocking) email for details.

2) USD 250 (using full blackgates + V-cap); USD170 (using full blackgates); USD150 (using full blackgates + part nichicon muse)

3) I’m going make it simple and layman. Clocking upgrades gives a sense of realism to the sound. You can now feel the music because the sound now becomes more musically involving, airy, 3-dimensional and improved overall in control, definition and details without sounding edgy.

Power upgrades on the power supply (DC-DC) gives the music better control, grip and make the background much quieter, giving a better sense of wholesome and feel to the individual frequencies without sounding congested, thin and boring. The flagship upgrade with addition of Vcap gives a better sense of brilliance and dynamics, and helps on micro-detailing capability.

For further information, remember to drop us a note at our email. We will try our best to educate you on what you need to bring your system to the next level.

Hi There,

Interested in getting the MX4000 or MX5000 to work with my Alpine PXA-H900 as reportedly possible. Will I be able to look forward to the analogish Mac sounding since DAC processing is via PXA-H900 then? Please let me know the $ involved on the hardware and modded required. Thanks. Hi there,

2 questions from a technologically naive Brit here:

Is it possible to upgrade the MX406 with a new DAC like this ? http://www.wolfsonmicro.com/products/WM8742

Can you modify MX406 to accept optical digital input from this ?
http://www.eu.onkyo.com/products/ND-S1.html

Kind regards from England,

H
